Well I bought this Presto deep fryer yesterday. Today I ordered a very well made (expensive) potatoe cutter. Now, what kind of cooking oil do I buy? I bought 2 bottles of Mazola vegetable oil today because I remember 20 years ago it had a high smoke point. I want to re-use oil as much as I can. Any suggestions on oil?
Mainly to make french fries.

I’m going to try and deep fry boneless chicken breast in the deep fryer, but am tired of tthe flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs thing. Is there an easy recipe to batter foods rather than "bread" them? And what should the temp. be as not to burn the batter?

i understand that there really isn’t a healthy oil but which one would be least unhealthy?

Do you have one, do you like it, any features I should look for when I buy one?

I was waiting for Chinese food and saw them dunk a lot of clams in the same fryer with all the egg rolls, chicken wings, wontons, fries, and everything.

I have a deep fryer that is only a couple of years old. I have cleaned it before but it took forever and was a b*tch. It is stainless steal. If you have cleaned your before and found a simple way of doing so PLEASE fill me in with your secrets!!! Thank you
It has a removable bucket where the oil is held. I must also add that its not just a normal cleaning after a couple of uses. There is some oil that is cooked on so it is going to take more then just soap and water. that is what I have tried in the past and it takes forever.

You may have other fried chicken establishments in your area that make fried chicken extra crispy too. In this area, Churches is known for their breading and extra crispy crunch to their fried chicken, and I am trying to achieve that at home without a deep fryer. I have a large and heavy black cast iron skillet passed down from my grandmother that I can use. But what’s the secret to getting that extra crunch? What are the tips for the breading? What kind of oil is best? And what temperature should it be?

We do a lot of cooking in this household but not a lot of deep frying because of the commitment and clean-up required for so much oil if we were to purchase a deep fryer. And absent a Fry Daddy (or Fry Baby), can this level of crunch be achieved with a cast iron skillet with a half inch to an inch of oil?

My question is, do you think I’d be able to deep fry the whole box of teething biscuits at once, or should I look for a bigger one? All I’ll be using it for is to fry teething biscuits and balls of rice cereal and pureed fruits for my infant. Is this a good size for that? Thanks!

My Presto deep fryer (with slow cooker insert & stew pot) given to me some 25 years ago was loaned to a relative and the relative’s in-law borrowed it without her knowledge. It came back to me grease soaked to the point of poor connection in the plug in and tons of grease where you cannot even see the control. I can’t find Presto on the internet, can someone please help?

I have some idea of how to make a good batter and to use peanut oil for the frying, but a couple of questions remain:
What is the best type of fish to use? Cod, haddock or is there some other type that works especially well?
I have a home deep fryer–what ideal temp should the peanut oil be for deep-frying the fish?
Thanks for your help!

Anyone have any good deep fryed turkey recipe.

I am looking to buy a deep fryer for my home, and many of the reviews I have read claim that the person’s fryer died after only months. Are these people just not taking proper care of the machine, or are fryers just bad investments?

i am trying to find out the advantages and disadvantages between an electric and gas fed deep fryers.
