Due to recent events i would like to say that in this segment i mistakenly grabbed a 510 cart , instead of a 901 cart. I didn’t see it as a big deal at the time , but i would like to set the record straight instead of being called a liar down the road. I stand by my opinion that the t-tips are essential for dripping. At just seven months of age, as Carltons mum Sharyn was cooking the family meal, Carlton tragically grabbed the deep fryer and was covered in boiling hot oil. Carlton had sustained burns to 75 percent of his body: a quarter of them third-degree burns. At only fourteen, Carlton has now had more than 50 surgeries in just 13 years. He is proud to share his story with you because he is so grateful for the care and treatment hes received at the Royal Childrens Hospital. While he has been lucky to have had the best -of-the-best treatment at the Royal Childrens Hospital, if he had sustained his injuries today, rather than 13 years ago, he would endured far less pain and trauma. Thanks to Professor Roy Kimbles internationally renowned research work at the Centre for Childrens Burns Research, some incredible breakthroughs have been achieved. But burns treatment still has a long way to go. This funding is so important! he says. Without donations, there wouldnt be any researchthese advances in burns treatment and prevention just wouldnt be possible. You can help the Royal Childrens Hospital Foundation work wonders for more sick kids like Carlton by donating towards ground breaking research leading to faster diagnoses, better treatments and ultimately cures.. I just need a simple fried chicken in a deep fryer recipe for tonight dinner.

I have a Dean deep fryer with no model numbers. The fryer was power washed and unfortunately so were the numbers. I need to buy a propane conversion kit and I do not know the model number. It is a double basket, 90,000 btu’s, 3 burners, and has a red oval emblem on the front top door that reads Dean. The orifice is #35, not sure if this helps much. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They look like newer fryers.

The first picture of the fryer is like mine except that it does not have spacers separating the baskets.
The second fryer looks almost identical to mine, except that it is NOT that disgusting. Mine looks newer like the first one, but I am not sure of the age. I hope some one can help me.

Bought turkey deep fryer for in-laws. I know that most folks use peanut or canola oil but read that advocado oil is much better because smoke point is over 500 degrees and it is full of good stuff.
But it is so expensive! So, what are best ways to preserve the oil after each use so that we can reuse the oil a lot but not daily?
Also, where can one buy 4 or 5 gallon containers of high temp cooking oil for less. Thanks, Happy New Year. Bob

Safety is a concern, but I also want to know if the electric turkey fryer holds up as the gas fryer does. Pros and Cons for both please! :-)

My deep fryer has an oil change indicator.

1. After a few times of cooking, some oil is absorbed by food and the remaining oil is not enough for frying. Can I add some new oil to it? Of course I will change the oil when it is time for changing the old one.
2. Is it really safe to use the oil as long as fryer refresh indicator says it is okay?

(watch in HD) Shock G aka Humpty Hump speaks with PUSHIN’ THE BAY TV / PTBTV in this exclusive video clip. Taken just weeks after Michael Jackson’s death, Shock G talks about Michael Jackson’s influence questioning the media, “How could we call him Jacko… EVER?”. Truly heartfelt, Shock G states his memories doing the robot dance to MJ’s classic, “Dancing Machine” by the Jackson 5. Gregory E. Jacobs (born August 25, 1963), known by the stage names Shock G and Humpty Hump, is an American musician and rapper best known as the lead vocalist for the hip hop group Digital Underground. He also is an accomplished pianist, visual artist, and music producer, responsible for Tupac Shakur’s breakthrough single, and co-producer of his debut album 2Pacalypse Now. As DU emerged during the late 1980s, a lingering general belief existed amongst music fans that rappers were less authentic (”less Hip-Hop”) if they played a traditional music instrument or showed any formal artistic abilities. In a strategy to overcome this, Jacobs opted to keep his accomplishments a secret, and created aliases to disguise his many roles within the group, resulting in characters that were maintained with such reality, they were believed to be actual living people by music fans as well as industry insiders. As “Rackadelic” he illustrated album covers and provided art direction; as the “Piano Man” he contributed keyboard tracks and music production. His main persona “Shock G” utilized a more natural voice

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Deep-Fried Tilapia Fish Bites. These are tasty fish bites that are seasoned and dipped into panko bread crumbs before frying. Great for children! NOTE: If you do not feel comfortable with frying in hot oil, please do not use this recipe. Ingredients: 1 pound tilapia fish fillets (I used frozen fillets, which I thawed in the refrigerator and cut into bite-sized squares while still slightly frozen. You may use a different type of fish, if you prefer.) 1 cup milk 1 cup panko bread crumbs ½ tablespoon seasoned salt 1 teaspoon black pepper ¼ teaspoon onion salt ¼ teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon salt peanut oil for deep-frying Place the tilapia squares in a single layer in a shallow dish. Pour milk over squares. Cover with plastic wrap and chill 1 hour. (If the milk doesn’t cover the fish completely, rearrange fish every 15 minutes, or so. Combine panko bread crumbs, ½ tablespoon seasoned salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, ¼ teaspoon onion salt, and ¼ teaspoon garlic powder in another shallow dish. Let fish squares stand at room temperature 10 minutes. Remove from milk, and discard milk, allowing excess to drip off. Discard milk. Sprinkle fish squares with ½ teaspoon salt. Dredge fish squares in panko bread crumb mixture, shaking off excess. Pour peanut oil to depth of 1 inch in a medium-sized pot. Heat to 350 degrees. Fry fish squares, in batches, a very short amount of time, just until golden brown. Drain on wire rack over paper

Any ideas on how to make good deep fried chicken, recipes, cooking items like cast iron dutch oven the best to use when cooking or deep fryer, oil to use, cook time, oil temp, you know anything useful in cooking the best fried chicken ever.

My dad likes to cook TONS of fried food and I was at his house almost all summer so of course all my clothes smelled like them, I came home and washed them right away unless some of the things I can-not and its been a couple months since I’ve been to his house but I still seem to smell fried food and get a hint of it every now and then when I’m either walking or just sitting down, and I NEVER cook it when I’m home for the simple fact that 1) its bad for you and 2) we don’t have a deep fryer! lol. But I do have a leather belt and that was at his house and I got it a couple days ago from hollister so of course it wreaked of there cologne and leather but when I smell close to it, it smells like leather but whenever I wear it I seem to get that ‘hint’ of fried food even more! Also I have my moms old makeup bag which I keep my inhalers in and other things like that and that just SMELLS COMPLETELY OF IT! ITS BEEN SITTING IN MY BATHROOM FOR 2 MONTHS AND THE SMELL WONT GO AWAY! I sprayed it with air freshener and almost used a whole can and a bunch of cheaper cologne and lit a couple candles by it and it STILL smells!! All my items in it do to, so I put it on my deck to hope to air it out, and my bathroom smells like fried food now! Its just a mess!! So could someone please help me on what to do, how to get rid of fried food smell? And how to clean my leather belt? lol.

I recently bought a small deep fryer since I needed to deep fry something for a recipe and was afraid I would burn the apartment down trying to do it on the stove top. Now that I have it, I’d like to make more use out of it.

However, it seems to use a lot of oil even though it’s small. It takes approximately 1 bottle of oil the fill to the minimum line.

When is it safe to reuse the oil? I read that I should not reuse it if I cook meat in it.

What about other things? I want to fry some onion rings as well as try to make some funnel cake. Mmm tasty. Would it be safe to reuse the oil if I fry things like this (other than meat)?

I do not do a whole lot of deep frying at this point, but I’d rather not use a fresh bottle of oil if I make some onion rings one night, or funnel cake another night.

If it is safe to reuse the oil, what precautions should I take? Can I just leave it sitting in the deep fryer from use to use? Should I throw it out after a month or two? Do I have to take it out of the deep fryer and store it some other method in between uses?

I have also read something about filtering the oil. From what I read, it seems that some fryers have filters or something. Mine is pretty basic. If I do need to filter the oil, how would I do so? When should I do so? What am I filtering for? Just chunks of left over food? If so, would a basic strainer (used for spaghetti usually) do the trick?

I’m just trying to find the best way to make the use out of the oil since I am a college student and it can get costly buying oil for each use. It also seems like a lot of work to empty the oil, dispose of it properly, etc. if I have to do this each time. It would be ideal if I could just leave it in the deep fryer between uses…but I don’t know…
Based on the first couple comments, it seems like I should be using different oil for different things.

If this is the case, what should be cooked in the same oil? How many jars of oil can I get by with? The oil is pretty dark already it seems after one use of cooking red meat in it, but perhaps it’s not as dark as it could be? I don’t know! First time I fried something.

I do not like fish, so I can eliminate that.

From what I hear, meats / onion rings should go together (I’m not sure why, onion rings don’t seem too related to meats in my opinion), and doughy things should use separate oil.

Also, it seems that I should indeed refrigerate the oil after each use. Is it unsafe / not good to simply let it sit in the deep fryer on the counter (provided the next time I use it I keep in mind which oil is in there, meats vs. dough)?
