I’m going to try and deep fry boneless chicken breast in the deep fryer, but am tired of tthe flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs thing. Is there an easy recipe to batter foods rather than "bread" them? And what should the temp. be as not to burn the batter?

You may have other fried chicken establishments in your area that make fried chicken extra crispy too. In this area, Churches is known for their breading and extra crispy crunch to their fried chicken, and I am trying to achieve that at home without a deep fryer. I have a large and heavy black cast iron skillet passed down from my grandmother that I can use. But what’s the secret to getting that extra crunch? What are the tips for the breading? What kind of oil is best? And what temperature should it be?

We do a lot of cooking in this household but not a lot of deep frying because of the commitment and clean-up required for so much oil if we were to purchase a deep fryer. And absent a Fry Daddy (or Fry Baby), can this level of crunch be achieved with a cast iron skillet with a half inch to an inch of oil?

I have some idea of how to make a good batter and to use peanut oil for the frying, but a couple of questions remain:
What is the best type of fish to use? Cod, haddock or is there some other type that works especially well?
I have a home deep fryer–what ideal temp should the peanut oil be for deep-frying the fish?
Thanks for your help!

I am looking to buy a deep fryer for my home, and many of the reviews I have read claim that the person’s fryer died after only months. Are these people just not taking proper care of the machine, or are fryers just bad investments?

Since vegetable oil doesnt conduct enough electricity to short out anything ive decided to build a gaming computer that is submerged in it. This required 2 hours of work, 50 bucks and patience. you need (5 Gallons of vegatable oil, one 5 gallon fish tank, One 2ft long peice of plywood 6 inches wide 1/2 inch thick, One desktop pc with a fairy small motherboard ( i used a dell dimension 4700) and small bottle of Gorrilla super glue for mounting psu and disk drive on wooden deck Specs: Dimension 4700 mobo 3.4Ghz Pentium 4 HT (core 2 duo) 4gb ddr2 Dual Channel Nvidia GeForce 7100gs (kinda crappy but plays mw2 well) Usb Wireless b/g/n (submerged) 250 gb WD 250gb 10000 rpm sata (not submerged) Logisys lighted case fan + Dimension 4700 case fan (very strong fan) Logisys 550 watt clear PSU (not submerged can kill you if submerged) Lightscribe sata DVD burner labeler (not submerged) Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1 z2 (submerged) 4 port wired USB 2.0 hub (so you can plug sub items in without using the submerged ports (will not hurt just a hassle and makes a mess ESTIMATED TOTAL COST TO START FROM SCRATCH: 0 if you buy used PROS: Silent, faster because dimension 4700 has bad cooling in original casing and it was extremely loud, total eye candy, will automatically shutdown if it heats up too much CONS: After playing mw2 for about 6 hours the oil gets a bit hot, after 10 hours of mw2 or leaving the system on overnight its a deep fryer and has to be shut down for at least 2 hours (could be

I have a deep fryer at home, and when I buy frozen fries from the store they always end up nice and crispy. The longer I cook them, the crispier they get.

When I cut up potatoes myself and put them in the deep fryer, they ALWAYS end up soggy. If I cook them for longer they just get soggier. Not sure what the trick is with this, but I’d really like to know.

Any help will be greatly appreciated by the whole family! Thanks!

I don’t really want to make an ‘old fashioned’ chip pan, because it’s pretty dangerous with so much hot oil

I was wondering if I have to buy one of those small deep fryers for my home kitchen because I tried to make plantains (a large, starchy relative of the banana) in a skillet but they didn’t cook the way I like. What do you think?

The fryer I have is one for home use, it can be easily lifted up. There is a picture of a slightly smaller one here (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4225764/Trail/searchtext%3EDELONGHI+FAT.htm) I’ve tried just pouring it down into a plastic bottle with a funnel, but that got pretty messy. I’ve been told that pouring it down the sink is no good for the drains (is this true?). Does anyone have any good solution to getting the oil out?

Thanks in advance

Any suggestion on how i can make a concustion to deep fry a turkey 22 lbs for thanksgiving… we dont have a deep fryer big enough for it… but i wanted some suggestions on what to put it in if i make a bon fire outside.

I’m thinking about getting a small deep fryer for home. Do you have to drain the oil after you cook, every time? If not, how often should you change it, if you only use it once a week?
